Bio

I received my MSc degree in computer science from Eindhoven University of Technology. In 2000 I received my PhD in computer science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) for work on machine learning and artificial intelligence at the Idiap Research Institute. I joined the Bioinformatics Laboratory of the Academic Medical Center in 2002, and currently hold an assistant professorship leading the Systems Genomics research within our lab. My interests are the analysis of high-throughput data and development of computational methods to uncover molecular networks perturbed by disease. The focus is on development of network-based methods for the analysis of gene expression data across different tissues and different organisms.
